Challenge Kit and Rules

Personal safety is of utmost importance to BlueSky Experiences and we would ask that all team members study the kit lists, rules and training tips, and any information posted on the website and within newsletters. At the event, that teams study all materials in the Team Info Packs and pay careful attention in any Team Briefings.

The kit list is separated into mandatory and recommended items. Please go HERE to consult the list.

Rules

We keep this as simple as possible and would not expect any cheating or underhand tactics from our wonderful (if occasionally serious) participants!
  • Each team must have four participants - if you can't source enough team members from within your organisation please let us know and we will try and join you up with other participants.
  • You can only use modes of transport described or provided for each stage.
  • Teams must always stick together unless the Route Book allows you to split up for some activity elements.  Your team members must always be within a 100m radius.
  • Always follow the instructions in the Route Book.
  • All team members must dib in using their electronic card at the relevant checkpoints along the course, and return the card after finishing.
  • Follow the Country Code and never drop litter or leave gates open.
  • Follow Event Safety Staff advice and instruction at all times.
  • If one of your team members drops out of the event, the remaining team members will be encouraged to finish the event, but will be unranked.
  • If you lose a team Route Book or Map you will be given a replacement (though a time penalty will be applied).  If you misplace or lose any mandatory kit your team will receive a time penalty.
  • Cheating is prohibited.
  • Event disputes - the Event Director's decision is final on any disputes raised by participants or team.
The rules are here to assist you but they only do so through good sportsmanship to others, so don't risk doing something that you think is probably breaking the rules.  Remember the hills and forests have eyes!

All the staff employed by the event organisers - BlueSky Experiences, are fully qualified and experienced for challenge activities.  Appropriate medical cover will be provided at the event as a precautionary measure.  All participants must complete a Medical Form on the morning of the event at Registration.  This private information will be held in the strictest of confidence and will be destroyed at the end of the event.

Our staffing policies are quality driven and our Participants-to-Staff ratios are high.  BlueSky Experiences' Technical Advisor, Stuart Johnston, has a great range of experience as a technical adviser.  Stuart's experience is not only on the technical safety and event design, but he has competed in numerous urban and wilderness events.  He is a fully qualified mountaineering instructor and holds the highest award attainable in mountaineering instruction within the UK, the MIC (Mountaineering Instructors Certificate).
